On behalf of our Board of Directors, Staff, resident families, our students, and our volunteers, thank you all for making our Celebration of Hope a successful evening. The room was filled with love for so many people that have helped build YSP into what it is today, but Jack Egan deserved to be singled out for all his contributions to our programs and to the community at large. His quest to rectify the injustices that exist, especially those against the poor, is a crucial element for our country to pursue at both local and national levels. We were thrilled to honor the contributions of Jack Egan’s unwavering passion for the families who have come to us in need these past 28 years by presenting him with inaugural Sister Kristin Funari Legacy of Hope Award.
Sister Kristin’s vision and passion built the very foundation on which the York Street Project stands and Jack, through his tireless dedication to York Street Project then and now, continues to breathe her spirit into all we do. We thank you for celebrating Jack, Kristin, and all those who have come, or will come, through the doors of York Street Project. Jack’s reflections of gratitude on receiving the award captured the spirit of the evening perfectly when he said, “How apt to name this award Legacy of Hope. Kristin was, and still is, a hope-nurturing light in our lives, and in these darkest of times, I am very honored and moved by receiving this award.” If you would like to read the full text of Jack’s eloquent and moving speech, click here.
We hope you can join us at our Celebration of Hope in 2019, or at any upcoming YSP events!
